Wire EDM has given Rembar the ability to produce burr-free slots much thinner than could be achieved with slotting saws or mills. Much closer tolerances are also attainable.


CNC Wire EDM offers the ability to manufacture parts to configurations not otherwise machinable and in materials that cannot be conventionally machined.

Ram EDM enables Rembar to produce shapes not machinable with standard tools.

REMBAR began as a distributor of molybdenum, tungsten, and tantalum. These were offered predominantly as wire, sheet, and rod for the power tube industry to be used in grid filaments, glass-to-metal seals, and support components for the high temperature elements of the tubes.

Since that time, REMBAR has grown to become a principal supplier of refractory metals and fabricated refractory metal parts to a vast range of industries. These industries include medical, vacuum, nuclear, semiconductor, electronics, defense, communications, chemical, and aerospace among others.

The services REMBAR provides also have grown. The experience gained over time has cultivated an expertise to develop systems and procedures that give REMBAR the capability to machine, form and assemble refractory metals into the customer specified components. As a result, The REMBAR Company can offer almost any type of fabrication of a refractory metal that is possible to be made at the highest quality available.

This is made possible by REMBAR's stringent quality control standards and computerization of both design and manufacture. Inspection meets MIL I 45208 and we are presently reviewing the requirements of the ISO 9000 manufacturing and inspection specifications.

Manufacturing at REMBAR has evolved from manual equipment at its inception to the present CNC turning and milling centers. We have met the further requirements of our customers with the addition of sinking EDM capabilities and CNC wire EDM. Conventional machining, forming, and assembly equipment support the more sophisticated equipment.

Providing additional manufacturing and design support is TIG and EB welding capability and a dedicated CAD/CAM system. Of course, our people are always willing to provide both technical and commercial assistance to fully support design, manufacture, and supply.

REFRACTORY METALS Refractory Metals are the group of metals that have boiling points in excess of 4000 degrees Celsius. They are found in the 5th and 6th periods in groups IVB - VIIB in the periodic table. These are molybdenum (moly), tungsten, tantalum, niobium, rhenium, zirconium and hafnium. Titanium, vanadium, and chromium are sometimes considered refractory metals although their boiling points and related high temperature properties are lower.
